Boston Breakers 41, New Jersey Generals 29

Dateline: Monday, May 12, 1986. With another relatively easy win over one of their likely playoff competitors, Boston looks poised to run the table and end the season undefeated. When the fans made a play for Matt Dunigan from the CFL, few though that the QB would abandon his home to come to Boston. But, he’s proved the difference maker this year.

New Jersey played well, but they saw their vaunted run game stymied. Perennial MVP candidate Herschel Walker gained only 57 yardson the day. It fell to Flutie to carry the team. He threw for 2 touchdowns but it jsut wasn’t enough against Boston’s relentless attack.

Boston hosts San Antonio. New Jersey gets another division foe in Washington.
